Founded in 2024, the Rapid City Gazette is a digital-first, independent news publication covering Pennington County and the Black Hills region of western South Dakota. We focus on local government transparency, business developments, community transitions, regional sports, and severe weather coverage.
Our operational model combines local original reporting with a curated regional aggregator. We believe in providing readers with a comprehensive starting point for Black Hills news, crediting original regional outlets while maintaining our own team of local reporters.

We correct factual errors promptly and transparently. If a correction is made to an article, we publish a clear note at the bottom detailing what was changed and when. The Rapid City Gazette is owned and operated by Stratmeyer Analytica Media Group, based in Rapid City, South Dakota. Our operations are funded through a combination of flat-rate local advertising, regional sponsorships, directory listings, and affiliate programs. We do not receive corporate government subsidies, ensuring our editorial voice remains completely independent.
